Samsung Galaxy S3 ROM Pre-released DOWNLOAD

Only yesterday, wickedly skilled developer Chainfire rooted the S3 before it is released. Today, the Samsung obsessed boys over at SamMobile received a leaked ROM containing all the goodies packed into the upcoming Galaxy S3. Yes, you read it right, a full Android 4.0.4 ROM with the latest iteration of TouchWiz featured on the Galaxy S3 is here!

So, if you’re looking for a way to test or simply use the S3′s TouchWiz interface even before the device itself is released, this is your chance.

Note: this ROM will only work if your device has Android 4.0 ICS, initial reports say

The leaked ROM of the Galaxy S3 that has trickled its way onto XDA’s forum gives you the experience of having Samsung’s latest flagship phone in your hand – way earlier than those 9 million (possibly more now) people who have pre-ordered the much anticipated Android device.

S-Voice, Smart Stay and Pop Up Play are only some of the pretty amazing features of the S III. S-Voice is a Siri-style virtual assistant on your Android phone. With your voice, you can control your device by saying commands like launching the camera, controlling songs, adjusting volumes and you can even yell ‘snooze’ to your S III’s alarm if you want it to go away for a while.
Other features baked into the latest version of TouchWiz is ‘Pop Up Play’, which is a brand new feature from Samsung. It lets you watch HD videos while checking your email or simply chatting with your friends via SMS.

So, if you’re feeling adventurous, and want to grab a taste of the Galaxy S3′s full ROM, you can download the ridiculously large file (768MB) here. But, if you’re only looking for the APK of the S-Voice feature, you can download it below. Initial reports are indicating that Samsung’s cloud is quite selective, and will only work with Samsung devices. Still – worth a try though! Let us know how it goes. We’ve got the downloads coming in one of our team members Galaxy Nexus, so stay tuned for the full ROM review soon!

S Voice APK
It’s great to see the S3′s features leaked to other Android smartphone with this leaked ROM. The Galaxy Unpacked event in London marked Samsung’s first foray into focusing on the more human elements of technology. Most of their announcements have been full on spec hype-fests, but this time around, it was different.

Soon though friend soon – we will have a Galaxy S3 of our own to play with and love, but for now, this ROM is just an appetizer to the feast that is to come in 10 days from now!.......

Are you going to be giving the S3 ROM a try? How about S Voice? Let us know down below!

Android Secret Codes

Android secret codes and hacks are fun and even useful if you need to troubleshoot some problems on your phone, but they are not as impressive at most other phones since the phones can already do pretty much everything but there are still some codes which are not always general knowledge. Obviously these codes are not really secret and don't do anything amazing but since people commonly refer to them as secret codes it seems fair for me to do the same.

Entering these codes on android devices should work regardless of the hardware platform.
Code Function Description
*#06# IMEI Standard IMEI command if you are trying to find out what your Android devices IMEI number is
*#*#4636#*#* Testing Mode - Phone Setting Displays the hidden testing menu for android which provides details on application usage, battery health and status, Wifi information and general network information. If you suspect that you battery is giving problems this is the best place to check.  You can also force certain network choices here, for example if you wanted to force your Android t use only 3G or GSM you could do it from the Phone Info menu
*#*#7262626#*#* Field Test Not supported by all units, will display a list of options for you to test and there is an option to log the information as well.
**05*<PUK Code>*<enter a new pin>*<confirm the new pin># PUK unlock If you need to unlock you android phone this command can be run from the emergency calling screen , you will of course need your PUK code which you came with your Sim card alternatively contact your service provider to obtain the code
*#*#8351#*#* Dialer Log Enabled Records your last 20 calls and stores them on your phone, you can find the data in the following /data/data/com.android.voicedialer/app_logdir

CyanogenMod 7.2 RC2 builds for several devices released, others to follow soon

CyanogenMod-7.2 rc

Just days after detailing the future of CyanogenMod 7 and ensuring us that they will continue work on the Android 2.3 software builds beyond CM 7.3, our favorite independent dev team has already released a number of custom 7.2 RC2 ROMs for several Samsung, LG, and Sony devices.
CyanogenMod 7.2, based on Android Gingerbread, is not yet final and needs additional work, but if you’re eager to get a taste of the software package and you have one of the supported devices, you can go ahead and download the builds from this link.
The LG Optimus Black P970 is one of the most recognizable names on the list of devices that already have custom CM 7.2 builds released, but you will find a number of Galaxy S variants, as well as the LG 2X and 3D on the list.
You might have some trouble recognizing all the devices on the CM 7.2 support list, as the hacking team hasn’t taken the time to write the full name of any phone, but I’m pretty sure that you know your gadget’s codenames well enough to distinguish them for similarly named products. If however you’re not 100% sure that your Optimus One is the same device with the “p500″ listed on the CM website or you have any other uncertainties, hit us with a comment and we will surely be glad to help you out.

The CM 7.2 software package comes with a lot of “goodies” that are nowhere to be found in the official 2.3 Gingerbread builds. So, if you want to take your phone to the next level and you’re sure that you won’t receive an ICS update anytime soon, you should seriously consider flashing this ROM. It won’t be as cool, functional, and user-friendly as Ice Cream Sandwich, but it’s surely the next best thing to Android 4.0.
The entire CM 7.2.0 changelog is available at this link here, so if you’re not quite sold by the idea of flashing a custom ROM, you should check out the full list of improvements and added features and I promise you that you’ll start seeing things in a different light. On the other hand, you should still watch out for bugs and unexpected glitches, which is normal, considering that the CM 7.2 project is not yet final.
When we will see a final version of the 7.2 build is still unknown, but I personally expect the guys at CyanogenMod to wrap up their work in a matter of weeks or a couple of months, at the latest. After all, the project has been in the works since January. In addition, the 7.3 build has been confirmed and should enter development soon.
Will you be trying out CM 7.2? Have you already tried it? Are these guys the absolute heroes of the Android development world or what?

The future of CyanogenMod 7 detailed, CM 7.2 to come soon, 5 new devices to get it!

Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich is all that everybody talks about right now and each and every one of you who owns a device running an older version of the OS is craving a scoop of tasty ICS and its butter smooth action. CM9 is the alternate software to go for in case your phone is not on an official Android 4.0 update list, but even that’s not enough to satisfy the needs of every mobile user out there.
Fear not, though, because CyanogenMod 7, based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, is a project that will be taken to new heights, according to an announcement made by our favorite independent developing team on their official blog.
The initial CM 7.1 release, which has been around for a few months, still has its fair share of bugs and glitches. But while the team is busier than ever with working on CM9, the devs will still be taking care of any and every problem reported on a device running CM 7.
The CM 7.2 software package, based on Android 2.3.7, is itself in the works and will be released sometime soon. However, the CyanogenMod team hasn’t mentioned any kind of timeframe for the launch, so we could be waiting for a few more months. That’s the bad news part of the report, but there is good news to mention too.
Five new devices have been added to the official list of phones supported by CM 7.2 and, while they’re not what you would call high-end or very popular gadgets, they could surely use a software update. The HTC Status (aka ChaCha), HTC Wildfire S (Marvel), LG Optimus Chic (e720), Motorola Photon (Sunfire) and Samsung Galaxy 5 (i5500) are among the “fantastic five”. Anyone who’s hesitating to upgrade from one of these phones to something newer, faster and cooler might be in for a treat soon enough.
The CyanogenMod team has also announced that the “7.x branch” of the project “will stay open, available, and active beyond 7.2”, which is great news for anyone who owns an older smartphone that is still not on any update lists. “We aren’t just leaving you behind” said Ciwrl from CyanogenMod, a message for any Android veteran fearful of being left in the dark with an old phone running glitchy software.
Head on to the source link to check out the full CM blog post, with all the details surrounding the Gingerbread-based CyanogenMod 7’s future and tell us if you’ve tried the 7.1 software, what you think of it, and if you’re eager to check out the 7.2 version, as well as other future ROMs from the developing team!

Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE finally updated to Ice Cream Sandwich… in Korea

While it hasn’t been as disappointing as, say, LG when talking about updating its devices to Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich, Samsung has managed to enrage many of its customers by pushing back upgrades and failing to announce exact dates for specific devices.
The Galaxy S2, the company’s flagship smartphone in 2011, has had many different versions and variations released and, unfortunately, a bunch of these are still (officially) running that old raggedy Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Fortunately, today we have news that confirm the rollout of Android ICS updates for one of the most popular Galaxy S2 variations out there. We’re talking about the Galaxy S2 LTE, which should have already started to be upgraded to the next software level over-the-air. The information is official and comes from Samsung’s Korean website. What we don’t know is whether the update will hit all the international LTE S2s or just the version available in Sammy’s home land.
In the United States, there’s only one LTE Samsung Galaxy S2 waiting for an official ICS ROM, branded as the Skyrocket and sold by AT&T. And even though an unofficial ICS build has made its leaked way to RootzWiki more than a month ago, the carrier is still reluctant to announce any official plans for when the official update might take place.

The Galaxy S2 LTE has also been sold in Canada or Mexico, but we’re unsure if the Korean OTA update will find its way to the two countries anytime soon. Also, Samsung Korea has announced that an ICS upgrade for the S2 HD LTE, the most advanced S2 version available, is in the works and should be itself released sometimes soon.
If you own a Galaxy S2 LTE, be it in Korea, the US, Canada or Mexico, you should check out your “Settings” menu and see if there’s any new software package waiting for your approval. If there’s nothing new, you might want to reboot your phone one or two times and check for a better network connection. If there’s still nothing, it means that you’ll have to be patient for a couple more days (or weeks). I know it’s not easy, but hey, you waited so far!
You can check out this link for an upgrade guide (in Korean) and a list of all the new features and the improvements Android ICS should bring to your Galaxy S2 LTE. However, I’m certain that most of you already know what to expect. Is there any sign of Ice Cream Sandwich on your Galaxy S2 LTE? And if there is, how does your phone feel now that it’s finally upgraded?

HTC One X issue breaks Android multi-tasking

Android multi-tasking has been praised for years as one of the best multi-tasking systems in the mobile industry. UI wise, webOS has always been better, because it was much more intuitive, but ICS has solved much of that problem, at least if manufacturers keep using the software buttons and multi-tasking button (which Samsung doesn’t do with the Galaxy S3).

iOS took years before it implemented “some” multi-tasking capability, and even now it still only works for a few types of apps. WP7 multi-tasking is also quite poor and doesn’t keep almost anything in the background, not even an IM. RIM may have the most advanced multi-tasking system right now, because every single app keeps running in the background, although it remains to be seen, with BB10 smartphones, if that was a wise choice or not for battery life. But even so, Android multi-tasking remains at least a top 2 in the industry.

Unfortunately, HTC seems to be taking that position way down (some even say worse than iOS) with the One X. They’ve implemented such aggressive memory management that once you switch to a different application, your previous application will be deleted from memory, so if you use multi-tasking at all on your phone, that means those apps will have to load again.

This is not how Android normally manages multi-tasking. Usually, apps stay in memory until there is very little of it left, and only then the “oldest” apps in memory start to drop out, and make room for the newest apps in memory. This allows the user to easily switch between many previous applications without reloading them every time.

Android may or may not need a bit more aggressive memory management, so that if you have 1 GB of memory, or even 2 GB like some new phones will have, it shouldn’t wait until you have only 30 MB left to clear up the old apps. But killing them as soon as you enter a new app, seems like a huge, well, overkill. It makes the large amounts of RAM modern Android devices have almost useless, and breaks the multi-tasking experience for Android users.

Here’s a video depicting the problem, courtesy of YouTube user wrxdrunkie:

Early benchmarks show Samsung Galaxy S3 leading the pack in battery life. One X left in the dust

Still doubting that the battery inside the Samsung Galaxy S3 will have enough juice to comfortably run the flagship phone’s 4.8-inch SUPER AMOLED HD screen and quad-core processor? We have some good news for you, then. According to battery benchmark tests, Samsung Galaxy S3’s 2,100mAh battery won’t disappoint at all.
First, we’d like to turn your attention to one rather non-scientific evidence from blogger Eldar Murtazin, who recently posted a screenshot of his Samsung Galaxy S3’s battery usage. The phone’s battery was shown to still be 42% full, even after Murtazin supposedly used the phone for over 20 hours. According to him, he listened to music for five hours on the phone, amongst other multimedia usages, and used it on a 3G network for an hour, before making the switch to a WiFi connection.
Galaxy S3 battery test murtazin
The next set of proofs comes from the folks at GSM Arena, who have just concluded their own battery benchmark tests for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
On the 3G talk time test, which measures how long the phone can be used to talk on a single charge, Samsung Galaxy S3 lasted 10 hours and 20 minutes. This was good enough to beat Galaxy S2’s 8 hours and 35 minutes, as well as competitors like the HTC One X, which clocked close 9 hours and 57 minutes. Motorola Droid Razr Maxx and its monster-size battery lasted 20 hours and 24 minutes.

The Samsung Galaxy S3’s SUPER AMOLED HD screen is proven to be quite detrimental for web browsing, but it still performed admirably. The phone lasted 5 hours and 17 minutes in the web browsing test, a good one hour more than HTC One X’s performance. Again, the Droid Razr Maxx was king with 7 hours and 23 minutes.

Who doesn’t love to catch up on their favorite TV series while on the road or to avoid awkward conversations during lunch break? You’ll be pleased to know that the Samsung Galaxy S3 managed to last 10 full hours of video playback. Though it can’t beat Droid Razr Maxx’s time of 14 hours and 17 minutes, it almost doubles HTC One X’s 5 hours and 45 minutes.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 may not be the absolute dream phone for everyone, but it’s apparent from the benchmark tests that its battery performance is something that Samsung has gotten right.

Meet Sensory TrulyHandsfree, what’s behind Samsung’s new S Voice

Speech recognition is a staple in today’s smartphones, no matter if your device runs Android, iOS, or Windows Phone. No matter which one you prefer, you can find a range of voice-activation utilities from useful to downright amazing. But have you ever thought about how Samsung’s new S Voice or Apple’s Siri work?
The quick (and accurate) answer is “It’s complicated”. The amount of research and work that goes into creating an effective speech recognition application is mind boggling. Speech recognition specialists need to take into account numerous factors and feed them as inputs into complex algorithms. Just think about how important it is to filter out ambient noise for an app like S Voice.
Based in Sunnyvale, CA, Sensory Inc does just that – making voice recognition smarter, so your phone can understand you in a crowded food court and not just in the quiet office of some marketing exec. Founded in 1994, Sensory specializes in voice recognition, speech recognition, and music synthesis. Its products (both software and hardware) have been integrated in products as diverse as Samsung’s smartphones, car stereos from Kenwood, and even NASA’s Mars Polar Lander.

Talking to Brad McCarty from The Next Web, Sensory’s Bernard Brafman said that the company is working on TrulyHandsfree, a technology that might really change the way we interact with smart devices. Many devices currently implement user profiles, but switching between them is rarely seamless. Sensory promises that devices, from smartphones to TVs, will listen and know who is using them, just like you recognize the voice of a friend who’s calling, without looking at caller ID. Truly smart voice recognition might also supersede passwords, pattern unlock systems, or fingerprint readers. Just say hello to your device (don’t worry, you won’t sound crazy) and you’ll get access.
Sensory’s TrulyHandsfree technology will also make it easier to talk to your phone, even you’re in the subway or other noisy place. TrulyHandsfree recognizes dozens of keywords, and Sensory claims that its system has an accuracy of 95%, without firing at false alarms. So, when you’ll say “Hi Galaxy” to wake up your Galaxy S3, you will actually benefit from Sensory’s TrulyHandsfree.

Super AMOLED HD Plus display seen on Samsung Tizen phone

We’ve all seen the power of the rumor mill, with the crazy speculation whirlwind that preceded the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S3.
While some of the pre-launch gossip was spot on (Exynos 4412 quad-core processor), some was, as expected, way off-base (2GB RAM). One rumor that had us all excited was the possibility that the Samsung Galaxy S3 would feature a Super AMOLED HD Plus display using the RGB matrix. With this type of display almost ready for production, our expectations weren’t unrealistic, but unfortunately, the final launch left display-fanatics quite disappointed.
Samsung, of course, is already anticipating the highly-successful launch of its latest flagship device, and is currently conducting a Tizen Developer Conference in San Francisco. If you aren’t in the know, Tizen is a new OS being developed in collaboration with Samsung, Intel, and the Linux Foundation, among others. The open-source platform is being developed for smartphones, tablets, netbooks, and in-car entertainment systems. You can read more about the Tizen OS and the impact it is expected to have in the Android-dominated OS arena here.
Samsung has been handing out Tizen developer phones at the conference. The device is, I assume, is nowhere near to being finished and assigned as a finalized product. The developer phone, the GT-i9500 code-named Fraser, features include:
  • 1.2 Ghz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 1280×720
According to some sources over at Sammobile, it seems that the GT-i9500 also features the sorely-missed-in-the-S3 Super AMOLED HD Plus display. The inclusion of this display for the Tizen phone makes sense, as Samsung requires a huge selling point to get consumers to look away from Android long enough to develop some interest in the new OS.
You can watch a video of the of the Tizen prototype here, courtesy of TheHandheldblog:

What are your thoughts? Is the presence of the Super AMOLED HD Plus display enough for you to consider moving away from Android? What do you think of Tizen and the impact it might have? Let us know in the comments section below!

Xbox 360 Live on AndroidDescription:-

Android OS is getting popular day by day as many companies are including it in their new mobile phones. No one really predicted that Android will get so much popular in such a short period.
However, Android OS still lacks in providing good applications and games for its users. Android developers will have to develop more quality games if they want to be as successful as iPhone developers.
One such Android developer has designed a new Xbox 360 Live application for Android phone users. This application is very useful for those who are addicted to Xbox gaming.
Here’s what developer has to say about the app-

“Designed for hardcore Xbox 360 gamers and Android owners, 360 Live is a gorgeous looking application that shows your friend’s Xbox Live stats such as their gamerscore, online status, gamer pictures, avatars, latest games, achievements, send/receive messages and much more.”
