As we know, iOS 5 firmware brings about a lots of new features and updates, but due to the current jailbreak and crack work has not caught up, there are large number of third-party apps still exist compatibility issues. If your device been already upgraded to iOS 5 and saved a SHSH backup for the lower firmware, such as iOS 4.3.3, iOS 4.3.2, iOS 4.3 or iOS 4.2.1, then you still can calmly downgrade iOS 5.
However, to note that this tutorial does not apply to downgrade the iOS 5 firmware (9A334) on iPad 2 3G, because now you can not downgrade its baseband, if you have upgraded iPad 2 3G to iOS 5, it can only say pity.
Downgrade Steps:
Step 1: Download the corresponding IPSW firmware file for your device:
Download iOS 4.3.3
Download iOS 4.3.2
Download iOS 4.3.1
Step 2: Make your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into DFU mode after the firmware downloaded.
Step 3: This is an important step, you need to cheat iTunes. By manually guide Apple points to Saurik server. As follows:
Windows users use Notepad to open C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file (Windows 7 and Vista requires administrator privileges, you can directly use the right -> run as administrator)
Mac users /etc/hosts (can use the Finder to find)
Adding 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com this line at the end of the Hosts file
save it.
Step 4: Open iTunes, hold down the computer keyboard Shift (Windows) or the left alt key (Mac) and click restore, do not click any other button! A new window will pop up and prompt to load IPSW file.
At this point, you need select the downgraded IPSW firmware (iOS 4.3.3, 4.3.2, 4.3.1, 4.3 or 4.2.1) , click Open. iTunes will complete the next work.
please do not disconnect the data cable until the device restarts automatically, not close iTunes, and not to do other meaningless operation.
Sometimes iTunes will prompt an error 1013, please ignore it, which often appears in the jailbreak process, do not panic. When the firmware downgrade is completed, your device most will enter the recovery mode.
Step 5: you can use TinyUmbrella, or Fix Recovery to jump out the recovery mode. You only need to openTinyUmbrella and click “Exit Recovery”, then everything is normal after a few seconds to reboot. (iTunes must to keep open).
Finally, add the # sign in front of 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com to comment out, to ensure you can normally use Apple’s other services.
You can also jailbreak your device untethered.
