The leaked Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich UCALC4 firmware for AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket resulted in another ICS ROM for its cousin from T-Mobile. The ICS Megamix 4.0.3 custom ROM brings Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich with 14 Toggle Notification Bar to the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-T989.
XDA Developers member jim93 created this ICS ROM which is based on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich UCALC4 firmware leak for AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. Aside from the 14 Toggle Notification Bar mod, the ICS Megamix 4.0.3 ROM also removes some of the bloatware found in AT&T’s UCALC4 firmware.
This ROM will also let you enjoy Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich on your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 (T989). Read on so you will learn how to install the ICS Megamix 4.0.3 ROM into your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 (T989).

- The ROM is still in beta, so expect some bugs when you flash it to your phone. Users report that issues with auto-rotation have been observed after they flashed the ROM.
- This flashing guide is only compatible with the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 (T989). Using this guide on another device may cause damage.
Requirements
- A rooted T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 (T989) with ClockworkMod Recovery installed. You might want to check this guide on how to root your phone.
- The flashing procedure will wipe the data on your mobile phone. It would be wise to create a backup of your phone data and transfer all files to the phone’s SD card.
- Maintain battery power of at least 50% to ensure your phone lasts throughout the entire procedure.
Instructions
Note: From the steps below, you will notice that you will repeat wiping the data from your mobile phone. Developer jim93 suggests that these steps are precautionary methods to ensure a clean installation procedure if you came from a Gingerbread ROM. If you came from a leaked ICS ROM, wiping the data and Cache once and flashing the ROM will suffice.- Download the ICS Megamix 4.0.3 package from here (icsmegamixv1.22.zip, md5sum: 497b85463c204e72773f7780125b7ee) and save the file to your computer.
- Download DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE 2.8.2012 from here (DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE_EXT4.zip, md5sum: e5d6ee0441fb4d258d8b5d72509a6da9) and save the file to your computer.
- Connect your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 (T989) to the computer via USB cable.
- Transfer the ICS Megamix 4.0.3 and DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE files to the phone’s internal SD card.
- Disconnect your phone from the computer.
- Turn off your mobile phone.
- Reboot your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 (T989) into Recovery Mode. You can do that by pressing the Volume Up key, Volume Down key, and Power button simultaneously until Recovery boots. NOTE: Once booted into Recovery, you will be using the Volume keys to navigate and the Power/Home button to select an option.
- In case something goes wrong with this procedure, initiate a Nandroid Backup of your current ROM. You can perform a Nandroid Backup by selecting Backup and Restore from the Recovery menu. On the next screen, select Backup to create a backup of your current ROM.
- Go back to the main menu and select Wipe data/factory reset. Confirm your action on the next screen.
- Go back to the main menu and repeat Wipe data/factory reset. Confirm your action on the next screen. (Yes, this is a repetition of the previous step.)
- Select Wipe Cache and confirm the action on the next screen.
- From the main menu, select Install zip from sd card > Choose zip from sd card and locate the DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE file. Confirm the action to begin flashing the file to your phone.
- Go back to the main menu and select Wipe data/factory reset. Confirm your action on the next screen.
- Select Wipe cache. Confirm your action on the next screen.
- Select Install zip from sd card > Choose zip from sd card and choose the ICS Megamix 4.0.3 file. Confirm the action to begin flashing the ROM to your phone.
- Once installation is complete, go back to the main menu and reboot your phone. Initial boot will take about 5 minutes or more.
- After your phone boots, complete basic setup such as setting up your Google Account.
- Reboot your mobile phone.
